the gutgsells

when the gutsgells showed up for their shoot, we were all matching! destiny. meredithe and joel are both kids with clefts like me! it was really great talking and bonding with them, because when i was a kid i didn't really meet anyone  my age that had the same condition. it was nice being able to talk to their parents about the same experiences we've had. by the end of the shoot they decided to adopt me into their family so feel free to call me sarah gutsgell. i've got nothing but love for this bunch.

juliann

took some pretty awesome portraits for juliann's new website! she plays pro volleyball and sings – two things i can't do which is pretty freaking cool. the lighting was obviously a dream, and i had to edit out every. single. raindrop on her shirt. but it was sooo worth it! note to self and to future customers: if we do a rainy day shoot (which is likely), don't wear microfiber fabrics :)

bethany

bethany is a talented actress, singer, and dancer. she just graduated from UNT which means she's a real life adult now...weird. this girl that i'm so lucky to be able to call one of my dearest friends, is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. forever grateful to have her in my life.

land of enchantment

this is the most exciting shoot i've been waiting to share with y'all. i was in new mexico the entire month of june for school. it didn't really feel like school though, it was more like summer camp. i lived in a national forest where we had bonfires every other night...didn't think i could ever see myself as the outdoorsy type. i had the privilege of capturing one of the professor's families. i think these photos speak for themselves when i say that these two divas are perfect. their opera performances and pro cartwheeling skills really did it for me. i finally understand why people relocate here. i thought the sky was big in texas, but there's no comparison to the cinematic sky here. now i'm back in the 100º+ heat and hating every minute of it.

kimo-yes!

one time someone asked me, "why do you always wear flowy things?" and my best friend replied with, "because she's dramatic ok" – she's right.

i decided to suffer through the heat with my blogger buddy kris and highkey regretted the first five minutes of this. this summer has been exceptionally...gross. i wear flowy things so i can drift past people in the hopes that they'll think i'm cool – literally and figuratively.

i've still managed to wear black on black in this heat, but it's really so you can't see me glistening. i did see a girl wearing uggs and shorts though...yes, it was as bad as you could've imagined. later y'all i'll be sacrificing my life for the aesthetic waiting for fall to get here.

kimono - free people // top - idk // pants - free people // boots - vagabond x uo // choker - brandy melville

photos by my beautiful friend kris! make sure to check out her blog and instagram!

brendan

i missed my flight. for the first time in my life. the people at the security checkpoint even remembered me when i went through a second time...so awkward. i didn't even notice that i haven't blogged since january. but i have been working since then i swear. just look here see?!

kids are so fun to shoot. they have this crazy energy and blunt personality that embarrasses their parents but makes me die. usually i prefer the wilder kids. luckily brendan wasn't camera shy at all! he kinda does his own thing just like calvin from my all-time favourite comic calvin & hobbes. he even had a hobbes stuffed animal!! i was this close to stealing him. this close. the arboretum was hot af but i loved every minute of it!!! here are some of my favourite photos of brendan and his mom marsha. enjoy :)

sandi + thom

the combination of light, rain, and that coffee shop smell (my favorite) made this shoot feel like scenes from an indie film. and the entire time he kept posting pics of her on snapchat with comments about how cute she is... are these two perfect or what? it doesn't help that they're ridiculously photogenic too.

the zepedas

this was an adventure-filled day with technical issues, naptime interruptions, touching sculptures and getting caught. mais, c'est la vie. maddy's curls, audrey's brows (they're on fleek), jane and danny – i love you guys! and i especially love the love you have for each other. i'm so honored to be dubbed the family photographer, because i'm able to see these little babies grow up, even stare at me funny every time we meet.

stanley + jubilee

it's so exciting when people come to me, because then i get to show them all the cool places there are to see in dallas. jubilee's back home from new york and stanley came all the way from london! they're getting married here before they trek off to their new life across the pond. their natural cuteness and that golden hour light–yet again–makes me want to cry. i mean, just look at them. eyes filled with love and tummies full of tacos.

"i love you without knowing how, or when, or from where, i love you simply, without problems or pride: i love you in this way because i don't know any other way of loving"

terry + kaili

this adorable couple right here came all the way from jackson, mississippi for a shoot with me!. our time together was short, but we still managed to break into the museum. i have a lot of laughing pictures, so you can see just how much fun these two have together.

"to feel the love of people whom we love is a fire that feeds our life"

the tsengs

triple the boys means triple the awesome. most photographers aren't lucky enough to get job of shooting three kids. and they certainly don't get little drawings and thank-you notes afterwards. this family overflows with happiness and it's definitely contagious. they were such a joy, and i'm so lucky that i got to hang out with such an incredible bunch.

max + christie

"wear sneakers." is what max told christie before our sneaky adventure this weekend. sneakers are just one of the many examples that they're always ready for an adventure. so i've known christie for a long time. from babysitting me, to now going on photoshoots together. she's also one of the few people who knows my good angles. max is pretty much part of the family already. our house was the first place christie brought him so we could "approve". my mum considers him as her "favorite child".... lame.

long story somewhat short, they went to elementary school, junior high, and high school together. they even lived in the same neighborhood! boy liked girl. boy im'd girl. girl was oblivious. boy fulfilled her lifelong dream of walking a dog. boy leaves for the navy and they become penpals. girl was still oblivious...(i know, right?). boy sends her gifts – even flowers in college!! girl hated boy and cuts off all communication. boy tries to win over girl. girl tells boy his car is ugly and then tries to convince him that she doesn't shower or use napkins when she eats. but throughout everything, he still didn't care. :) he began meeting with our church and after much deliberation, she decided to meet up with him and reject him in person (i mean, that's the least she could do!). of course, they meet up and she's in love. the rest comes after the end credits.

a relationship spanning over ten years, they are a testament to real love. a dawson's creek-style love filled with whales, sunsets, and a lovely car with seat warmers. this couple right here is the real deal. their love proves that the lord works in funny ways sometimes. and that sometimes what you're looking for is right there in front of you. literally. his patio looked out to her front door.

george warner

warner is the absolute sweetest, tiniest baby! at only two weeks old, i wouldn't have expected him to be anything but. of course we had to incorporate a western feel to this now "cow-family"! we stuck warner in a hat and it was just perfect. well, except for the part where he almost got stuck – oops. the lighting in their classic home perfectly captured the softness of each moment and the beauty of their family

straw goose

i was walking with some friends in camden town and happened upon this boat/cafe. i looked, walked past it, and moved on. but something told me, "go back or you'll regret it!!" so i ran all the way back down the river to get a few shots.

everything they make is all-natural or locally sourced. they also grow their own vegetables in the back! they told me they were trying to work out a schedule but so far they just move along the grand union and regent's canal, so if you can find them, be sure to get some fresh-squeezed juice or a soy latte with a nice piece of cake!
